March 30, 2003:

Voters:

Hope you enjoyed the last two weeks, since I didn't have to harass anybody about voting (although a few people felt inclined to vote anyway. What my voters lack in intelligence they make up for in earnestness).

A review of the voting process, for those of you who have forgotten: you list the nominees below in order of favorite to least favorite, listing only the names of the nominees (not the whole quote). If one person has multiple nominated quotes, distinguish between them with parenthetical statements like "George Bush (axis of evil)".

Email me for a list of Honorable Mentions if you're interested. Also, for your convenience, I've decided to include short descriptions of the nominees, to aid those of you who may not know some of them personally.

And now, the NOMINEES:
"Noodles make the best of pets; the only requirement is to restrain your temptation." -Prophetic Fifth Grader Eloise
"Ipswich is a lot more like 'It's a Wonderful Life' than anyone expected. I'm just not in the cast." -Roz, involuntary Ipswich resident
"He currently looks like a slightly overweight Jesus but with a haircut I think he'll look sort of like [James] Bond." -Winchester resident Jason, on his English teacher
"All the sources call it 'kinetic.' That's because it has no potential." -Richard, 6'8", on an ugly building under construction at MIT
"If we don't stop smoking, who will?" -Fifth graders Nick and Ainsley's persuasive essay on why people should stop smoking
"It will Faulk you up." -Winchester resident Ben Kounaves, on the difficulty of reading Faulkner
"If I do this enough, all the big particles will stay on top and the little particles will go to the bottom. [pause] Or maybe it's the other way around..." -Fifth grader Alex, while shaking a cup of pebbles and sand

Voting closes Tuesday at 5:00 pm, as usual.

-Ben "nebulae-centric" Orlin
