July 5, 2003:

QOTW Members:

I think my email is going to change to borlin@comcast.net soon. So be forewarned. (I'd send out a separate email about this, but there's nobody in my address book that doesn't receive QOTW.)

This is the third straight week of new quotes. Lucky you. There might even be Honorable Mentions this Tuesday (maybe). You can join the Honorable Mentions club by asking me to join. (Yes, it's that easy!)

This week's quotes:

"Cheap jokes make my world go 'round." -Erin, Leek editor
"I never would have thought I'd wind up at barbecue night at my local swim and tennis club. I feel so... suburban." -Suzanne Bolles, mother of two
"I thought Latin was the verbal embodiment of pretension." -Roz
"It means a 'living', or 'not a bloodsucking zombie of pretension' language. Something people speak in their right minds." -Roz, defining "vernacular". Roz was really beating up on Latin in this one conversation.
"I'm not really afraid of homeless people. Only a little bit. Like, I wouldn't give one a hug. I might give him a dollar." -Cousin Kaya
"I thank you for your hostility. No, wait... hospitality." -Julian, upon leaving John's house
"Remember Jeff? He used to be cuddly and asexual." -Roz, implicating Micheline as a witch
"You could flip two one-sided coins. No, I mean..." -Jenn, struggling with probability
"You come through the front, it's all beautiful; you come through the side, it looks like it's been eaten by a dog." -Clarence, on the differences between the Commonwealth and Dartmouth street entrances. Clarence doesn't attend Commonwealth School, but is short enough to.
"Someone should write a dance for this, just so we can get it out of our system." -Julian, on the 1812 overture

-Ben "the ultimate dining experience" Orlin
